The Nacogdoches Area United Way (NAUW) is a volunteer organization that supports and funds programs that address three essential impact areas; health and well-being, education, and financial stability. The organization is guided by a thirty-member Board of Directors who establish policies and procedures designed to carry out the mission and vision of the organization. NAUW serves Nacogdoches, Shelby, and San Augustine Counties. United Way Worldwide is the franchisee for over 1,800 United Ways in forty different countries.
Gary Lee Ashcraft has served as the President/CEO for the Nacogdoches Area United Way since 2009. Gary Lee Ashcraft has served as the President/CEO for the Nacogdoches Area United Way since 2009. Ashcraft earned his Master of Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources Management from Texas Tech University. He is also a Graduate of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States Institute for Organizational Management and the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. He is currently a member of the Nacogdoches Rotary Club, the Nacogdoches Boosters, the Heritage Heralds, and the Nacogdoches Economic Development Corporation.
Caroline joined Nacogdoches Area United Way in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer and was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2019. Caroline joined Nacogdoches Area United Way in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer and was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2019. Caroline earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University. Caroline is known for the establishment of the annual “Day of Caring” volunteer event and for her vital role in procuring over $140,000 in the Emergency Food and Shelter Program for our communities. She is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, serves on the following boards: Greater East Texas Community Action Program, Healthy Nacogdoches Coalition, Nacogdoches County Historical Foundation, Nacogdoches Junior Forum, and her church, is involved in other community organizations such as Nacogdoches Heritage Festival, Literati, and the Federation of Women’s Clubs, and she is a 2017 graduate of Leadership Nacogdoches.
